To remove and install Components for the Diamante (1990-93), Galant (1994-00), and Mirage, first disconnect the negative battery cable. Then safely raise the vehicle so that the wheels and suspension hang free. Remove the sway bar links from the lower control arm. Disconnect the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle. Remove the inner mounting frame through bolt and nut. Next, remove the rear mount bolts and any clamps. For the Diamante and Galant, do the previous steps in reverse. Remove the rear rod bushing if servicing. install control arm and bushing assembly to vehicle and secure with through-bolt and nut during installation process Ensure that the torque values are followed for the bolts and rear mount clamp. Join the ball joint stud to the knuckle, fit up the sway bar and links, lower the vehicle and finally tighten the frame mount through-bolt nuts. For the 1994-98 Galant, when servicing the lower lateral arm or compression arm ball joints, the arms must also be replaced as they are related. Elevate the vehicle, detach the ball joint studs, extract the crossmember brackets, and the inner lateral arm mounting bolts prior to removing the arms. For installation, assemble the control arms and bushings, attach them to the vehicle, and connect the ball joint studs, making sure to tighten to the proper torque. Reinstall the crossmember brackets and perform a wheel alignment. To start the procedure for the Mirage, you will want to raise the vehicle and remove the wheel and tire assembly. After that, disconnect the sway bar links. Once that is done, remove the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle. First remove lower arm inner mounting bolt and rear mount bolts. After that pull arm out. When installing, lock the control arm and tighten the bolt on the inner mounting then the clamp and bolts of the rear mount. The final step is to connect the ball joint stud to the knuckle, install the sway bar and links, lower the vehicle for final tightening and reinstall the wheel and tire assembly.
