To remove and install the components, the negative battery cable is disconnected, the transaxle is removed from the vehicle, and the flywheel/driveplate assembly is removed. After that, remove the rear engine plate and the bell housing cover. If the rear Crankshaft Seal case is leaking, remove it, otherwise just remove the Crankshaft Seal. Some engines will have a separator that will also have to be removed. When installing the seal, lubricate the inner diameter of the new seal with clean engine oil. Install the new seal into the crankshaft rear Crankshaft Seal case using tool M0998376 (or equivalent). Ensure it presses in straight. Place the oil separator in the Crankshaft Seal case, making sure the oil hole is facing the bottom. A bead of sealer should be placed along any seams between the seal case and block. After that, install the seal case with a new gasket. Reinstall the flywheel/driveplate and transaxle, reconnect the negative battery cable, and check for leaks, adjusting the oil level as necessary.
