How to disconnect the negative battery cable and remove the Ignition Switch and Ignition Lock Cylinder from the steering column on Mitsubishi Montero?

Unhook the negative battery cable on the battery, and remove a steering column cover to reach the ignition switch/lock cylinder. The cable band should be taken off using wire cutters and the bolts joining the ignition switch/lock cylinder to the steering column must be removed, on models since 1988, the bolts need to be cut off and new ones put in during reassembling. Then unscrew and take out the key reminder switch, unscrew and remove the ignition switch/lock cylinder in the steering column. Removal is inversely followed by installation.
