Windshield wiper blades should be checked periodically for damage, loose parts, and for cracked or worn rubber parts. Road film can build up on the blades so, therefore, it is good practice to regularly wash the blades with a mild detergent solution. The wiping mechanism can cause nuts and bolts to loosen so while inspecting the wiper blades nuts and bolts should be checked and tightened accordingly. If the blades are letting you down, it is best to replace them with new blades. To remove a wiper blade, press the release tab located at the center of the wiper arm and pull the blade off. Use needle nose pliers to pull the two support rods out and slide the element out of the wiper bridge after bending the element end out of the way. Once the element is removed, slide the new one into place and insert the rods to lock it. When putting the wiper blade on the arm, place the plastic clip on the arm and slide the blade over it until it locks in place.
