To remove and install the slave cylinder, first, loosen the bleeding screw and drain the fluid. Next, disconnect the clutch tube (or hose) from the slave cylinder. Finally, unbolt the slave cylinder and it is removed. To install, perform the reverse of removal and tighten clutch tube eye bolt to torque specification of 14-18 ft. lbs. To bleed the clutch, top up the clutch master cylinder with DOT3 brake fluid, loosen the bleeder screw at the slave cylinder, and slowly depress the clutch pedal until air escapes. Once fluid escapes, hold the pedal down. Replace the bleeder screw, release the pedal and refill the master cylinder as necessary, repeating the process until no bubble is released and a steady stream of fluid flows out. For the overhaul, remove the valve plate and spring from the fluid port, remove the pushrod and boots, and mount the cylinder in a bench vise with a cover over the end to stop the piston from flying out. Utilize compressed air to slowly push the piston out. Check the inner surfaces of the cylinder bore and the piston for scratches or rust and replace if necessary. Apply brake fluid to the inside of the components. The spring is followed by the piston and cup, then the boots and pushrod are installed, and the spring and valve plate. Take the unit, reinstall it to the vehicle tightening the mounting bolts to 35 Nm or 26 ft. lbs. Secondly, grease the end of the pushrod and its hole in the clutch release arm. Tighten the bleeder screw to 11 Nm or 8 ft. lbs. Finally, connect the clutch fluid hose and tighten the coupling to 22 Nm or 16 ft. lbs.
