  • Q: How to properly remove and reinstall the crankshaft sprocket and timing belt with respect to the Crankshaft Seal on 1989 Mitsubishi Montero?
    A: Disconnect negative battery cable; remove drivebelts, crankshaft pulley and timing belt. Pry off sprocket or, if seized, drill/tap and use bolt puller, don't reuse a drilled sprocket. Remove timing-belt plate; carefully replace oil seal using greased pipe-and-washer tool. Refit plate with Woodruff key, lube sprocket, reinstall parts in reverse and torque to specs.
