Apply penetrating oil and remove exhaust-to-manifold nuts; remove air cleaner (carbureted), unplug O2 sensor and, if present, air-injection tube. Remove heat shield and manifold mounting nuts and slip off manifold. Clean fasteners and surfaces, fit new gasket, install, torque center-out, reinstall parts and check for leaks.
