Loosen the lug nuts, raise the vehicle, and support it securely on jackstands before removing the wheel. Next, remove the tie-rod end and jam nut. After that, take off the Rack and Pinion Boot clamps and slide the boot off, checking for the presence of power steering fluid inside; a substantial amount indicates leaking rack seals, necessitating replacement of the power Rack and Pinion with a new or rebuilt unit. Before installing the new boot, wrap the threads and serrations on the end of the steering rod with tape to prevent damage to the small end of the new boot. Slide the new boot into position on the Rack and Pinion until it seats in the grooves, then install new clamps. Remove the tape and install the tie-rod end. Finally, install the wheel and lug nuts, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts to the specified torque, followed by having the front end alignment checked and adjusted if necessary.
