Mitsubishi Galant Tie Rod End Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install a Tie Rod End on Mitsubishi Galant?
    A:
Follow these steps to remove tie-rod end. First, loosen the lug nuts on the wheel. Next, raise the front of the car using a floor jack. Then, support the car securely on jackstands. While performing this, apply the parking brake. Also, block the rear wheels to prevent rolling away. Then, take away the wheel, and loosen the tie-rod end jam nut so that its position on the tie-rod can be marked for toe-in setting reinstatement. Identify the position of the tie-rod end with respect to the tie-rod threaded section, then remove the cotter pin and a few turns loosen the nut from the tie-rod end ballstud. Employing a puller, disconnect the tie-rod end from the Steering Knuckle arm. Subsequently, remove the nut from the ballstud, separate the tie-rod end from the steering knuckle, and unscrew the tie-rod end from the tie-rod. For installation thread tie-rod end onto tie-rod to marked position and connect it to steering arm, then install nut on ballstud and tighten it to specified torque and remember to install new cotter pin. If necessary, tighten the nut slightly more so that a cotter pin can be inserted. Do not loosen the nut to align. In conclusion, securely tighten the jam nut, put on the wheel, lower the vehicle and torque the lug nuts to specification, after which check and adjust the front end alignment, if necessary.
