  To test the fan, first disconnect the battery's negative cable and rock the fan back and forth manually to see if there's excessive bearing play. With the engine cold, hand-turn the fan blades and they should rotate freely. Check for major fluid leaks from the clutch unit and, if found, replace the clutch unit. Following the engine start, you must turn off the ignition and again disconnect the negative terminal. Manually turning the fan should create some drag, and if it turns easily, then the fan clutch requires a replacement. To replace it, disconnect the negative battery cable, remove the fan shroud mounting screws, and detach it. Following that, remove the assembly (along with the shroud, if you ensure) from the engine compartment after taking off the bolts or nuts attaching the fan and clutch assembly to the water pump hub. Look at the fan blades for any damage or imperfections and replace if required. When unbolting the fan from the clutch, store the fan clutch raditor side down, with a fan facing down over it. The reverse process of removal is performed during installation by tightening the fan and clutch mounting nuts or bolts evenly and securely.
