When there is no windshield wipers operation, verify the fuse and change it where necessary, ensure the switch works and change or repair them as necessary, check the corroded, loose, disconnected or broken wires and clean or repair wiper switch or motor ground circuit, and check the ground circuit of the wiper switch or wiper motor. When the wiper motor hums, becomes hot or blows fuses then it may be internally damaged and requires replacement or the wiper linkage may be bent or damaged, or seized, and the wiper linkage may need to be repaired or replaced. To troubleshoot the wiper motor, when the motor is running, but one or both wipers do not move, inspect the motor connection to the wiper linkage to verify that it is not loose or disconnected and reconnect or replace as necessary and make sure that the wiper arms are properly attached to the wiper pivots. When the windshield wipers will not park, check the operation of the wiper switch by making sure that it is opening and closing the power flow to the wiper motor correctly; when the switch is operating correctly, the wiper motor parking circuit may be faulty and the wiper motor assembly will have to be replaced. Install the arms and blades and operate the wiper motor at least once to check the correct positioning and again with the highest wiper speed on a wet windshield before attaching the arms and blades to the windshield.
