To begin, relieve the pressure in the fuel system. Now, disconnect the cable from the negative battery. After that, you will want to disconnect the vacuum line from the fuel pressure regulator; on 3.0L VS models, you will need to disconnect this vacuum line, disconnect the fuel return hose, and remove the two pressure regulator mounting bolts. Use a screwdriver to loosen the hose clamp and pull the fuel return hose off the fuel pressure regulator. Rotate the fuel return line to the regulator. To detach the regulator from the rail, take out the two mounting bolts and pull the regulator off. Remove the old fuel pressure regulator O-ring and discard it. Install a new O-ring in the groove of the fuel pressure regulator and lubricate it with a little clean engine oil or gasoline. The opposite of removal is installation, ensuring that the fuel pressure regulator has a new O-ring and the mounting bolts are tightened to the correct torque. As soon as you finish the task referring to the fuel system and have fitted all the fuel lines in their proper place, turn on the ignition to the ON position a couple of times to pressurize the system and leak test the serviced area.
