Mitsubishi Lancer Intake Manifold

Mitsubishi Lancer Intake Manifold valves feed and inject a mixture of air and vaporized gasoline into cylinders of an engine. This component generates a network of runners that promotes the supply of every cylinder in a balanced manner, which influences the power output and smooth functionality. In its channels, the air stream may remain pure or may mix with fuel, depending on whether the engine uses multiport, throttle body, or direct-injection systems, and the design ensures that whatever blend arrives does so in a homogeneous manner. A lot of Intake Manifold assemblies are made from a lightweight composite material, which helps keep the incoming air cooler, but metal material is also common. The upper and lower halves of a structure are often sealed by gaskets. Tight joints are essential to prevent unwanted leaks that might upset the air-fuel ratio. Thus, the gaskets must seat properly to maintain the Intake Manifold air-tight. The housing may incorporate passages for coolant, which permit the fitting of a thermostat and temperature sensors that provide feedback to the engine control computer. Often, sensors that monitor airflow, pressure, and air temperature have additional mounting points to automatically optimize electronics. The Intake Manifold of the Mitsubishi Lancer contributes to the efficient combustion of all the Mitsubishi Lancer engines due to the integrated delivery of air, potential fuel mixing and strategic sensor positions in a single assembly, which ensures that every Mitsubishi Lancer model is functional.

Mitsubishi Lancer Intake Manifold Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to remove and install the Intake Manifold on Mitsubishi Lancer?
    A:
Before removal and installation, lower the pressure in the fuel system. Unplug the negative terminal of the battery. Next, remove the inlet duct from the throttle body to the air cleaner. Unplug the wiring from the throttle position sensor, the EGR valve, the fuel injectors, and the ISC motor. Air intake sensor cooling. temp sensor. Eliminate the two vacuum hoses located at the rear of the inlet manifold and the hose connected to the PCV valve. Draining the cooling system and removing the thermostat housing. Remove the fuel supply pipe and return lines from the fuel rail, immobilizing the fuel lines high in the engine bay to prevent leaking fuel, and loosen the fuel filler cap to prevent build-up of pressure. If necessary, note the position of throttle cable before removing it from the manifold. Detach and remove the inlet manifold support. Take off the inlet manifold. Remove the manifold retaining nuts and bolts and detach the manifold from the engine. When installing, check that the Cylinder Head and inlet manifold mating surfaces were not damaged, and clear old gasket material. Be sure to check the manifold for distortion with a straight edge and feeler gauge. If the distortion is in excess of 0.5 mm, replace it. Fitting of the inlet manifold to cylinder head with new gasket and the holes are aligned. Using an appropriate type of sealant, renew the gasket on the thermostat. Install the fuel lines with new O-rings, and reconnect any wiring connectors and vacuum hoses. Finally, fill the cooling system and make sure the manifold is not leaking.
