Mitsubishi Mass Air Flow Sensor

The function of the Mitsubishi Mass Air Flow Sensor is to determine the flow of incoming air. The engine computer uses the information from this component to adjust the delivery of fuel for clean fuel combustion. The Mass Air Flow Sensor performs an essential function in a modern automotive engine to help the engine run smoothly. The sensor converts changes in flow into instantaneous electrical signals. The internal engine microprocessor uses these signals to adjust engine idle, help inhibit unnecessary fuel consumption, and prevent rough running. The microprocessor will use the data from the Mass Air Flow Sensor to help maintain a good mixture of air or oxygen with fuel in the combustion chamber. Thus, the engine will perform efficiently while going up a hill or cruising on the highway. A clean intake path prevents dirt from getting to the Mass Air Flow Sensor and impacting data. Replacement of a faulty unit will restore smooth starts and confident acceleration. Mitsubishi has a history of innovation that began with its first car over a century ago and continues today in its efficient MIVEC engines, flexible plug-in hybrid options, and Super All Wheel Control, which gives surefooted grip on loose surfaces. Above all that, though, it is dependable airflow management. Mitsubishi makes smart features like cruise control and smartphone connectivity feel less daunting in user-friendly cabin style, which drivers appreciate. Mitsubishi continues to work on generating fuel cell power and advanced safety sensing systems, reflecting a commitment to future tech that works every day. The outcome is a brand that wants it to be easy and safe to drive for families and enthusiasts.

Pick genuine OEM Mass Air Flow Sensor if you want superb performance and durability that lasts. Mitsubishi builds that using high-grade materials and official factory techniques to meet very strict standards. This means you get parts you can actually trust for your daily drive. Finding the right parts is simple in the massive stock of genuine inventory. You can stop guessing if a part will fit or hold up. You will love the low prices, dependable service and the real manufacturer's warranty on Mitsubishi Mass Air Flow Sensor. Order today and the store will ship your brand-new items to your door as fast as possible.

Mitsubishi Mass Air Flow Sensor Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: What is the function of the Mass Air Flow Sensor and how does it operate in an engine on Mitsubishi Diamante?
    A:
The Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor determines the mass of air entering the engine, with the output used to calculate injector pulse width. The platinum wire feature of hot-wire sensor is filament. The filament is heated by 417F, which is the temperature above ambient temperature. Then the filament is subjected to the intake airflow. A "cold-wire" in the payload sensor is used to measure ambient air temperature as well as the current battery and ground voltages supplied to the PCM by a reference signal. The sensor emits a signal which is proportional to the current that maintains the temperature of the hot-wire; the increase in the flow of air cools off the wire thus dropping the resistance and requiring extra current which corresponds to a greater voltage. You can perform the testing by measuring the voltage levels at different terminals of the MAF sensor connector using a multimeter. With the ignition key ON (engine OFF or ON), ensure the proper voltages are present. To remove the sensor, disconnect the negative battery cable, release the retaining clips, and detach the hoses and connectors. Then, remove the sensor from the air cleaner upper housing while being careful not to damage your sensor. To install, do the reverse of uninstalling.
  • Q: What is the function and replacement process of the Mass Air Flow Sensor on Mitsubishi Galant?
    A:
The sensor responsible for volume air flow is located at the air filter housing end of the air intake duct. It contains a platinum hot wire and thermistor inside a control circuit in plastic housing. This device has a hot wire sensing element that measures the amount of air entering the engine. As the throttle valve opens, more air passes over the hot wire causing it to cool. The current through the hot wire is adjusted by the circuit to keep it at a constant temperature. The change in current alters the output voltage signal, which is measured by the PCM and converted into a digital waveform used to calculate the fuel injector pulse width to control the injectors. Beginning with models from 1996, the sensor includes a barometric pressure sensor and an Intake Air Temperature sensor. If either of those is being replaced Volume Air Flow sensor needs to be replaced too. To change the sensor, turn the ignition key off, disconnect the electrical connector and remove the air intake duct and air filter housing. Detach the sensor by removing the retaining nuts, and fit the new one, reversing the removal steps.
