The Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) is in the transaxle and generates a pulsing voltage signal when the vehicle is moving, which is sent to the PCM to get the vehicle speed. To fit an alternative to the VSS, make sure that the ignition key is turned to the OFF position, unplug the electrical connector of the VSS, unscrew the hold-down bolt, and remove the VSS of the transaxle.
