Mitsubishi Ignition Coil

The Mitsubishi Ignition Coil sends a powerful jolt of high voltages that jumps the spark plug gap to achieve clean combustion and a steady power supply in any gasoline engine. Mitsubishi has a reputation for making technologically innovative vehicles that offer good bang for the buck. From MIVEC variable valve timing for a lively throttle response to Super All Wheel Control for sure-footed grip on gravel or snow, user-friendly tech like cruise control and smartphone linking make trips easy and connected. The company balances efficiency and simplicity in smart ways since 1870. Founded in 1870 and building passenger cars since 1917, the company always strives to balance efficiency and simplicity in smart ways. So vehicles like the versatile Outlander PHEV are proof that responsible driving can be fun. The strong tuning of the chassis and trial work on fuel cell systems along with carefully thought out safety sensors of the brand show that they continue to refine comfort and confidence for families and enthusiasts alike. Within this philosophy of reliable performance, the Ignition Coil is a small yet vital component. Encased in tough epoxy to protect an iron core and twin copper windings, an Ignition Coil converts a meager twelve volt battery supply into thousands of volts. This energy is transmitted through high tension towers to ignite each plug. Thanks to the quick magnetic field build-up and collapse and the durable insulation, the coil delivers a constant spark even under heat and vibration, so misfires are reduced, idle smooths, and fuel economy is retained for the life of every Mitsubishi vehicle.

Pick genuine OEM Ignition Coil if you want superb performance and durability that lasts. Mitsubishi builds that using high-grade materials and official factory techniques to meet very strict standards. This means you get parts you can actually trust for your daily drive. Finding the right parts is simple in the massive stock of genuine inventory. You can stop guessing if a part will fit or hold up. You will love the low prices, dependable service and the real manufacturer's warranty on Mitsubishi Ignition Coil. Order today and the store will ship your brand-new items to your door as fast as possible.

Mitsubishi Ignition Coil Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to test the ignition coils for various engine types in distributorless ignition system on Mitsubishi Diamante?
    A:
To test ignition coils of different engine types, initially unscrew the negative battery cable and the connector of the ignition coils harness. To check the primary coil resistance of the coil pack, in the 1.6L and 1990 2.0L DOHC engines, between specific coil pack terminals, the primary resistance should be measured, between high voltage terminals, the secondary resistance should be measured, and it should be 10.3-13.9 kilo-ohms between high voltage terminals; replace the ignition coil to check In the case of 2.0L DOHC engines (1991-93), proceed with the same steps except with the desired primary resistance of 0.70-0.86 ohms and secondary resistance of 11.3-15.3 kilo-ohms. To measure the resistance of the second ignition coil, with a target value of 9.4-12.8 kilo-ohms, and replace it where necessary, use the 1997-00 1.8L and 1999-00 2.4L SOHC engines. Check primary resistance ( 0.74-0.90 ohms ) and secondary resistance ( 20.1-27.3 kilo-ohms ) in the 2.4L DOHC engines, substituting the coil when out of range. In the case of the 3.0L DOHC engine, primary resistance will be measured between terminals 2-3, 1-3, and 4-3 with the goal of 0.67-0.81 ohms and secondary resistance will be measured between the specific coil terminals with the target being 11.3-15.3 kilo-ohms. To be removed and installed in the different engines, disconnect negative battery cable, pull out spark plug wires by holding the boot, take away electrical connectors and loosen screws to unlodge the coil out of the engine and vice versa.
  • Q: How to perform checks on the ignition coil assembly on Mitsubishi Galant?
    A:
It is important that the engine remains cold during checks on the ignition coil assembly as resistance readings can vary while the engine is hot. For 1994 and 1995 2.4L DOHC models, disconnect the electrical connector at the coil assembly. Tag and disconnect the spark plug wires. Unbolt and remove the coil assembly. Measure the primary resistance between terminal 3 and each of the other two terminals, using an ohmmeter. Note the resistance and compare to specifications. If incorrect, replace coil assembly. Subsequently, take the secondary resistance between high-tension terminals for spark plugs 1 and 4 and then for terminals 2 and 3 and compare the results with specified values. After the installation, reconnect the electrical connector of the coil and the spark plug wires. For a 1994 through 1998 2.4L SOHC model, first disconnect the electrical connector from the distributor. Next measure the primary resistance between connector terminals 11 and 12. If this has not gone to specification, replace the distributor. Check the secondary resistance from the coil high-tension terminal to the connector terminal 11 or 12 and change the distributor if necessary. For the 1999 and later 3.0L V6 models, unclip the electrical connector from the distributor, then using an ohmmeter, measure the primary resistance between the connector terminals one and two. If not specified, replace the distributor. Next measure the secondary resistance between the coil high-tension terminal and connector terminal one. For 1999 and later 2.4L SOHC models, unclip the electrical connector from the ignition coil assembly. First, check the primary coil resistance by wiring an ohmmeter between terminal one and two while powering terminals two and three from a 1.5-volt battery. Ensure continuity when powered and none when opened. If the resistance is not as specified, replace the coil. You have to measure between two high tension terminals to check secondary resistance. If reading is incorrect, the coil is to be replaced. To replace the ignition coil, begin by disconnecting the negative battery terminal. Next, for a 1994 and 1995 2.4L DOHC models, disconnect the ignition coil assembly connector, label and unclip the spark plug wires, remove the mounting bolts securing the ignition coil, and finally pull out the coil pack. For models from 1994 to 1998 with a 2.4L SOHC engine and for the models from 1999 with a 3.0L V6 engine, replacing the distributor is the solution, since you cannot service the coil. For the 1999 and later 2.4L SOHC models, you must first pull the electrical connector that connects the coil assembly, label and pull off the spark plug wire for the companion cylinder, remove the securing bolts, and then reinstall in the reverse order.
